Should This Be Automated? A Better Question Than “Can AI Do It?”
AI can do more every month. That does not mean every task should be handed over. A better decision starts with the work itself.
If the process is unclear, inconsistent, or unnecessary, do not automate the mess. Fix the process first.
Simplify handoffs, clarify ownership, remove duplicate steps, and organize the information before adding AI.
Use AI for research, drafting, summarization, classification, preparation, or recommendations while a person remains responsible.
When work is repeatable, lower-risk, rules-based, and has clear exception handling, automation may be the right fit.
Relationships, negotiation, sensitive issues, strategy, and high-impact decisions deserve human ownership.
The key is not maximum automation
The goal is a better business. Sometimes that means AI. Sometimes it means automation. Sometimes it means better training, a cleaner process, or simply leaving a human in charge.
